So far, 9 countries have confirmed sending observers to the 12th National Parliament elections, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sehli Sabreen gave this information in the regular weekly press briefing on Thursday afternoon.
The countries are – India, China, Russia, Sri Lanka, Japan, Uzbekistan, Mauritius, Georgia and Palestine.
Sehli Sabreen said that the expert team of the European Union, OIC, Commonwealth and the Arab Parliament will also monitor the elections. Among them, the EU expert team is currently in Bangladesh. They will stay in Bangladesh till January 24.
The spokesperson also said that the Election Commission is reviewing the applications received from international observers. The commission will also finalize how many of them will come to Bangladesh.
