8 thousand 500 Ansar battalion members have been deployed as a striking force to protect law and order in the 12th National Assembly elections to be held on January 7. According to a press release, they have been deployed since Friday.
Ansar battalion members have been deployed across the country around the elections. They will perform duties in 25 platoons and 750 sections from the deployment as election striking force till January 13.
Ansar Battalion members deployed to maintain law and order in the constituencies will serve as mobile/striking/striking reserve force under the command of the Executive Magistrates as per plans of the Returning Officer.
Earlier, 1 thousand 151 platoons of BGB were deployed across the country on Friday to maintain law and order during the election. They will be in the field till January 10.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal announced the schedule of the 12th National Assembly elections on November 15. According to the schedule, the vote will be held on January 7.
Last date for submission of nomination papers was 30 November, selection of nomination papers from 1 to 4 December. The opportunity to file an appeal against the Returning Officer’s decision was from December 6 to 15. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is fixed on 17th December, and allotment of symbols is on 18th December. The promotion started from last December 18. It will continue until 8 am on January 5.
