8 murders in one month in Comilla, 388 cases

Comilla district saw eight murders last month. A total of 388 cases have been registered in various crimes. Apart from this, there were 20 cases of violence against women and children, five cases of banditry and one case of robbery. The total number of drug cases in November is 178.

This information was given in a meeting of the district law and order committee in the district commissioner’s conference room on Sunday morning about the overall law and order situation. It was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Khandkar Mushfiqur Rahman.

The meeting was briefed on serious crimes, law and order situation, sale of unauthorized goods and smuggling task force operation, drug control, operation against drug sellers and suppliers, settlement of drug cases, illegal sand mining, settlement of cases in village court, sexual harassment and child marriage, Chemicals and adulterants in food, market monitoring to stabilize commodity prices, relocation of hazardous poles/poles, mobile courts against illegal gas connectors as well as regular case management, regular monitoring of all KPI institutions including electricity sub-stations, regular mobile against illegal clinics and diagnostic centers Conducting courts, raiding unlicensed pharmacies and sale of adulterated drugs, industrial factories to prevent fires, regular inspection of risky markets, taking necessary measures by identifying places where road accidents occur more frequently, decongesting traffic, eviction of illegal establishments, rumours, health checks of inmates in jails, by waste Conducting mobile court operations to identify establishments polluting rivers and water bodies, eviction of illegal sawmills and brick kilns, strike and blockade programs of various political parties centered on the upcoming 12th National Assembly elections, including maintaining a high alert position to control the law and order situation in the overall development of the district. Discussions and decisions are taken.

Additional District Magistrate Syed Shamsul Tabriz presented the minutes of the last meeting.

District Superintendent of Police Abdul Mannan BPM (Bar), Additional Deputy Commissioner Serbik Pankaj Barua, District Civil Surgeon Dr. spoke at the meeting. Nachima Akhter, former Zilla Parishad Chairman Alhaj Omar Farooq, District and Sessions Judge Court PP Ed. Zahirul Islam Salim, Sadar South Upazila Chairman Golam Sarwar, Burichong Upazila Chairman Akhlaq Haider, Veer Muktijoddha GM Sekandar, Meghna Upazila Chairman Saifullah Mia Ratan Sikdar, Manoharganj Upazila Chairman Zakir Hossain and others.

At that time, heads of various government and private departments, upazila executive officers and law and order committee members were present.
