The district intelligence police have arrested seven accused in the robbery case in Narsingdi’s Shivpur along with a pipe gun and four rounds of cartridges. At that time, 5 lakh 23 thousand taka and 17.52 grams of gold were seized out of the looted money.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman gave this information in a press conference at the Police Superintendent’s office on Monday afternoon.
Earlier, on Sunday, raids were conducted at different places in Narsingdi district and six people involved in robbery and one person involved in buying looted goods were arrested.
The arrested are Sheikh Farid (35) of Battali Khamarpara area of Raipura police station, Abul Kashem (42) of Naughata area of Shibpur police station, Nurul Islam (29) of Chaspaknagar area of Narsingdi Sadar police station, Moktar Hossain (44) of Daribaluakandi area of Raipura police station, Char-Aralia area. Al Amin (29) and Rajiv (22) of Bakshalipura area of Narsingdi Sadar police station. Apart from this, Shipan Chandra Sutradhar of Bhatparadighir Par area of Palash police station was arrested for buying looted goods.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman said that on the night of January 26, Haji Md. of Devalertek area of Jessore Bazar Union under Shibpur police station. A violent robbery took place at the house of Mejbah Uddin Mezu. A group of 10 to 12 robbers entered the house by cutting the grill of the balcony of the tinshed house. At that time, seven robbers entered the room, took the house owner’s wife hostage with a knife and a pipe gun, broke the lock of the cupboard and looted 19 lakhs. Apart from this, apart from the gold jewelery on the body, a button mobile phone with around 16 gold ornaments worth 17 lakh 34 thousand taka kept in the cupboard was taken away. The robbers looted goods worth 53 lakh 36 thousand rupees including cash. In this incident, the victim filed a case at Shivpur police station.
The SP also said, ‘After filing the case, district police officials along with me visited the spot and DB police started investigation. A private car used in the robbery, cash, a pipe gun used in the robbery and four rounds of ammunition were seized from them along with the arrest of Shipan Chandra Sutradh, who bought the looted goods during the robbery.
There are several cases against the arrested persons for various crimes including robbery. Efforts are on to nab the other accused involved and those arrested will be sent to court.
