Rapid Action Battalion-RAB has arrested six pirates in an operation in the Bay of Bengal. Firearms and sharp weapons were recovered from the bandits. The group was operating under the umbrella of Home Ministry-identified pirate Pekua Abchar Uddin Budhu.

The captain of RAB-15 HM Sajjad Hossain gave this information to the journalists at the Nuniya Rama Ghat in the city on Friday afternoon.

HM Sajjad Hossain said, ‘They received information about a group of robbers who went out for robbery on the last 21st. On the 22nd of this, a fisherman complained to RAB after being robbed. After that, RAB conducted an operation in the Bay of Bengal from last January 25 night. Last night, 6 pirates were identified and arrested through the technology of those pirates. Meanwhile, 3 firearms, 3 sharp weapons and bullets were recovered from them.

He mentioned that the operation was conducted around the estuary of Maheshkhali and Bankkhali.

The RAB captain said, ‘This bandit was led by Pekuar Abchar Uddin Budhu. In whose name there are 30 cases. This group went to the sea to commit banditry under the umbrella of Budhu. Also Pequar is the godfather of Ishaq and Jalal pirates. In whose name there are 10 cases each. They collected bandits from different areas of Cox’s Bazar and sent them to the sea with boats and weapons.

The arrested pirates are – Qutubdia Lemsikhli and Dakshin Dhurung Union Md. Badsha, Raihan Uddin, Ershadul Islam, Maruful Islam and M. Rafi. Also son of Abu Bakr of EPZ area of ​​Chittagong. Al Amin.
