A winter clothing market has been launched in Sherpur for five taka. A voluntary organization called Today’s Youth started this bazaar for the poor. The market was officially launched on Friday afternoon at the Sherpur Government College grounds. Sherpur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mezabe Rahmat inaugurated.
In the opening ceremony held under the chairmanship of Rabiul Islam Ratan, the organizer of the voluntary organization Ajker Tarunya, Health and Family Planning Officer of Sherpur Sadar Upazila Dr. Mubarak Ali, former general secretary of Sherpur Press Club. Meraj Uddin, director of Uttara Hospital Zakir Hossain, journalist Shahidul Islam Hira and many others were present.
The organizers of the event said that this mobile market will be open in different parts of the district during winter.
On the opening day, one and a half hundred cripples, beggars and poor people were given a blanket for just five rupees each. Everyone is happy to get a blanket worth 200 rupees for 5 rupees.
Jamal Miah of Bagraksha area of the district city said, “I have not found any winter clothes anywhere. I just came here and got this blanket for five minutes. I am very happy. This market is like a blessing for poor people.’
Today’s youth president Rabiul Islam Ratan said, they will continue such initiatives. After the winter clothing market, they will launch a two-taka product market in the upcoming month of Ramadan.
The Executive Officer of Sherpur Sadar Upazila said, ‘I welcome this great initiative of the youth voluntary organization today. We will have all kinds of support in such initiatives from our side.’
