Israel has attacked a residential building in Damascus, the capital of Syria. Five members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard have been reported killed in it. This information was reported by the news agency AFP with reference to the Syrian state media.
According to the report of AFP, the Israeli forces attacked the Mazzeh area of Damascus this Saturday morning. The area houses the embassies of several countries, including Lebanon and Iran.
Last week, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attacked the Mossad office in Erbil, Iraq. Al Jazeera reported that Israel attacked Iran’s embassy in Syria in retaliation for that attack.
Al Jazeera said a senior officer of the Revolutionary Guard’s intelligence service was in the residential building that Israel attacked. However, it is not yet confirmed whether he was killed or not.
Meanwhile, the British-based non-governmental organization Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that they have learned from reliable sources that “leaders related to Iran” were meeting in the building. In a statement, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, ‘Iranian leaders were meeting in a room of the four-story building. The entire building collapsed in the attack. It has been reported that Panjchan has been killed.’
Israel has been attacking members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard in Syria for the past few days. General Syed Razi Mousavi, a senior Revolutionary Guard officer, was killed in an Israeli attack last month.
