Police have arrested five people with a bag full of ganja in Tangail’s Sakhipur. Four of them are women. They were arrested from Mohammad Ali’s house in Kachua Bazar of the upazila around 1 pm on Saturday.

Police said one sack and three school bags were found with approximately 1 gram of marijuana.

The arrested are- Mumtaz Begum (53), wife of Wadud Sheikh of Dashani area of ​​Bagerhat, Shirina (46) wife of Shahjahan Mia of Palashbari area of ​​Gaibandha, Parul (50) wife of Mosharof Hossain of Karimpur area of ​​Narsingdi, Rokeya (55) wife of Khorshed Alam of Nadia area of ​​Shariatpur and Gaibandha of Gobindganj. Sanwar Hossain’s son Raju Ahmed (28).

According to police and local sources, two women rented the house of Mohammad Ali in Kachua Bazar about a month ago. Two days ago, a sack full of ganja and some bags were brought to that house in a pickup.

Sakhipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Shahinur Rahman said, based on secret information, five people were arrested along with a bag of ganja in the house. A case under the Narcotics Control Act is pending against them. Sunday morning will be sent to court for remand.
