40 percent vote across country as primary: CEC

Voting for the 12th National Assembly elections has ended. The percentage of votes cast is not yet certain. However, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said that initially 40 percent of votes have been cast.

The Chief Election Commissioner said these things in a press conference at the Election Commission building on Sunday afternoon. The polling started from 8 am and continued till 4 pm. Counting of votes is going on. Center wise result release started.

CEC Kazi Habibul Awal said, ‘I have observed several centers. The situation was peaceful in the morning. No serious incident occurred. And the incidents that happened took immediate action.’

CEC said, ‘Elections were made fair through visibility and transparency. As much violence was feared, it did not happen. Voting under party soccer is a bit of a challenge. However, due to cooperation from the government, the election has been fair with joint efforts.’

In response to a question, CEC said, ‘Whether the election has been accepted as a whole can be said after the final results are published. Whether it is acceptable in the international community, it can be said only after a comprehensive evaluation including the media.

CEC said that there was no death in election violence. EC said that immediate measures have been taken for what happened. However, 2 election activists died of cardiac arrest.

Kazi Habibul Awal said that no bias was seen in the behavior of the administration. Where there were complaints, action was taken. CEC said that the fake votes will be eliminated.
