4 teams of Food Department will supervise the market

In view of the increase in the price of rice, the Food Directorate will conduct market surveillance and inspect the ongoing OMS activities of Dhaka Metropolis.

On Tuesday, the Directorate issued an order to form 4 vigilance teams comprising additional directors and deputy directors of the Food Directorate. This information was informed in an order signed by the Director of Food Department, Mahbubur Rahman.

It said, daily a team will visit at least 4 OMS outlets (including shops and trucks) and 2 markets as per the advice of the Additional Director General, Food Department on a fixed day.

According to the prescribed schedule, the inspection report must be submitted to the Director General of Food Directorate within the next working day. The coordinators of each team will occasionally participate in inspections with the vigilance team with the permission of the Director General, Food Department. Besides, emergency inspection activities will be conducted as directed by higher authorities.

In order to provide food assistance to the people of the country at a fair price, rice and flour sales are currently underway in all city corporations and divisional and district cities including Dhaka.
