Even 11 days before the 12th National Parliament elections, the race to get back the candidature is going on in the Supreme Court. On this day, the candidature of 4 more persons was returned by the order of the chamber court, some of them have applied to the High Court again to return their candidature. However, at the last minute, the lawyer of the Election Commission raised questions about the new writ petition regarding the candidature, the High Court assured to consider the matter.

On Tuesday also, the candidacy of 4 more people returned by the order of the chamber court. They are – Sirajganj 3 constituencies. Nurul Islam, Mohammad Amjad Hossain of Bogra-7, Mo Mo Nurul Islam of Narail-2 and Kaiser Ahmad of Mymensingh-10.

On this day, Barisal-4 constituency candidate Shammi Ahmed’s lawyer told the court that the Australian government has settled the issue of his relinquishment of citizenship.

Meanwhile, several petitions related to the candidacy have been submitted even though the High Court has not heard afresh.

Barrister Mohammad Anisuzzaman, the lawyer of the Election Commission, said, “If the writ application to withdraw the candidature continues, it may increase the complexity of the election by coming at the last minute.”

Besides, the EC’s application seeking cancellation of the candidature of the candidates of the Democratic Party was heard in the chamber court, the order in this regard was on Wednesday.
