The court has sentenced 14 BNP leaders and workers to two-and-a-half years imprisonment in the case of sabotage of Tejgaon police station in the capital. In a case of Banani police station, 20 leaders and activists of BNP have been sentenced to one year and nine months imprisonment in two separate sections.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mosharraf Hossain gave this verdict today.
The convicts in the Tejgaon police case are Anwaruzzaman Anwar alias Anwar Commissioner, Raj, Salim, Mohammad Azizur Rahman alias Mobashvir, Kabir, Shafizur Rahman Shafiz, Jalal, Shah Alam, Abdul Jalil, Yusuf Hossain Mintu alias Food Mintu, Palash, organizing secretary of Tejgaon College Chhatra Dal. Babu and Jhantu.
Among those convicted in the Banani police station case are- Abul Kalam Azad, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman alias Bachchu Mia, Shahjahan Sarkar, Mahmudul Hasan, Mohammad Imam Hossain alias Imon, Salim Ahmed Raju alias Jadu Salim, Shajahan alias Baburchi Shahjahan, Mizanur Rahman Akhtar, Tak Fazlu, Rezaur Rahman Fahim.
They were sentenced to three months in one section and one and a half years in another section.
Two cases were filed in Tejgaon police station in September 2013 and Banani police station in September 2018.
