In Shariatpur on Tuesday afternoon, there was a clash between the two sides of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Government College Chhatra League. At least three people were injured in the clash in the college campus in Dhanuka area of Sadar upazila.

The injured are Zakariya, a class XI student of the college, Hriday, a class XII student and Mamsad, a first year honors student. All of them are workers of College Chhatra League.

It is known from local and police sources that the branch committee of Chhatra League at Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Government College was declared dissolved two years ago. However, there was a long-standing conflict between Chhatra League activists Arafat Madbar and Limon Bepari in the college. The followers of both sides got involved in a verbal argument on Tuesday afternoon about these issues. Later, there was a chase and a fight between the two sides with sticks.

Chhatra League workers Zakaria, Hridoy and Mamsad were injured in the clash. Later, the injured were rescued and admitted to Sadar Hospital for treatment.

The convener of District Chhatra League. Mohsin Madbar said, ‘Today I have come to know that there has been a fight between the College Chhatra League. The BCL committee has basically been abolished in the college, but everyone is a BCL worker. We will talk to senior leaders and resolve the issue. In fact, as the college grew within the district, there was an isolated incident every year when class XI students got admitted, this is part of it.’

District Police Superintendent in this regard. Mahbubul Alam said, ‘Dhanuka College Chhatra League fought because of enmity between the two sides. 3 people were injured. Two have gone home after receiving first aid at Sadar Hospital, while the other is undergoing treatment. The police were sent to the spot after receiving the information. At present the situation is normal. Subject to investigation, legal action will be taken later.’
