Bangladesh Primary Teachers Association General Secretary Mostafizur Rahman Shaheen said that only three days of training is not enough to launch the new curriculum. And the training being given is not enough. However, the ministry said the training program will continue throughout the year.

In the new year, the new curriculum is being launched in the second and third classes. But still 20% teachers have not received training. In the introduction of the new curriculum, only three days of training for teachers has been arranged. The teachers’ organizations think that this is not enough.

The new curriculum has been introduced in the first class. In the new year, the new curriculum begins in the second and third classes. The new system is reducing the pressure on the students. Emphasis is on class-based assessment.

Education researchers say that the implementation of the new curriculum depends on the teachers. So teachers will also face problems if they don’t get training.

Mojibur Rahman, associate professor of Dhaka University’s IER department, said that the most important thing to implement the new curriculum is to give adequate training to teachers. Good results can be obtained only if they are properly trained.

However, the ministry claims that preparations for the new curriculum are being taken well. Teacher training will also continue.

Farid Ahmed, secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, said that the training courses have been arranged keeping in mind the new curriculum.

Students have to read three subjects in first and second class and six subjects in third class. And there will be 11 teaching assistants.
