Alleged deaths of 3 civilians in army custody in Kashmir The army picked up the three men for questioning a day after four army personnel were killed in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch-Rajouri area. Their bodies were found later on Friday.

Members of armed groups ambushed and killed five Indian soldiers in Rajouri area of Poonch district last Thursday. After this incident, 8 persons were taken from Topa Mastandara village for questioning by the Indian Army. Three of them died last Friday. The rest are being treated for serious injuries at the Army Hospital.
Later on Friday evening, the families were asked to collect the body from an army camp, a relative said. Legal action has been taken in this regard, said the Information and Public Relations Department of Jammu and Kashmir.
The government has announced compensation to the families of the deceased and compassionate appointments for the relatives. Meanwhile, political parties in Kashmir condemned the incident.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army has ordered a high-level internal inquiry into the death of 3 people in army custody. An army source confirmed the matter on condition of anonymity yesterday.
A high-level inquiry has been ordered into the deaths of three civilians to determine the accountability of local commanders, the official said. Some officials have already been identified and will face action soon.’
