In 3 months and 20 days, 9 iron donation boxes of the traditional Pagla mosque of Kishoreganj were opened and 23 sacks of Tk were collected. Apart from money, the bag contains gold, silver, coins of different countries.
9 donation boxes of the mosque were opened in the presence of Kishoreganj Deputy Commissioner and Pagla Mosque President Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad and Kishoreganj Superintendent of Police Mohammad Russell Sheikh and five magistrates at 7:30 this Saturday morning.
Later this money was taken in 23 sacks on the second floor of the mosque. Apart from money, as always, gold, silver, coins of different countries were found in these donation boxes.
134 madrasa students, 10 teachers, 60 officers of Rupali Bank, 10 Ansar members are counting the money poured on the floor of the mosque. The mosque authorities said that the amount of money will be known at night after the day’s calculation.
Although there are 8 donation boxes in Pagla Mosque, one more donation box has been increased due to the increase in donation money.
8 donation boxes of this mosque were opened 3 months and 20 days ago on August 19 this year. Then a record 23 sacks of rupees were found. At the end of the day’s counting, a record 5 crore 78 lakh 9 thousand 325 taka was found. Apart from this, foreign currency and gold ornaments were found.
Deputy Commissioner and Pagla Mosque Committee President Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad said that the money received from the donation of the mosque is spent on various social welfare works in addition to mosques, madrasahs and orphanages in the district. An initiative has been taken to construct a beautiful Islamic complex of international standards in place of the mosque. It will start working soon. Which will be named Pagla Masjid Islamic Complex. The initial cost of its construction has been estimated at 115 crore rupees. 30,000 worshipers can pray together there.
According to legend, about two and a half years ago a mad spiritual man floated in the middle of the river Narsunda to get a mat and stopped at Harua, the district town of the present mosque area. Many devotees gathered around him. After the death of that madman, this mosque was built next to the tomb. Later it came to be known as Pagla Masjid.
