One in five people in the country is food insecure. And 0.83 percent people are in severe food insecurity. These data came out at the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) ‘Food Security Statistics-2023’ release event at Agargaon in the capital on Sunday.
It is said that 21.91 percent of the total population of the country is suffering from food insecurity. People of Rangpur division are most food insecure, which is about 30 percent.
And the people of Sylhet division are the most advanced in less severe food insecurity index. Only 1.42 percent of the population is at risk.
According to statistics, 24.12 percent of people are suffering from food insecurity in villages. In the city, that rate is 20.77 percent. The calorie intake of people in the country has increased. Decreased tendency to eat protein and iron foods.
