Police have arrested two other persons including the main accused in the case of assaulting and threatening to chop off the hand of an education officer in Natore’s Baraigram. A total of five people were arrested. They were arrested from the Manikpur check post area of the upazila on Saturday night.
The main accused in the case are Rubel Bali, son of Abdul Karim Bali of Bhabanipur village of upazila and Jamal Uddin, son of Abdus Samad of Malipara village.
In this regard, Superintendent of Police Tariqul Islam of Natore said that on Thursday afternoon, 30 to 36 persons including Rubel Bali entered the room of Baraigram Upazila Secondary Education Officer Abdur Rauf, threatened to cut off his hand, physically assaulted him and destroyed the urgent files of the office. In this incident, the education officer himself became the plaintiff and filed a case against 30 to 35 unknown people including Rubel Bali in the police station that evening.
Superintendent of Police Tariqul Islam also said that the accused went into hiding after filing the case. Three people were arrested last Friday night with the help of information technology. After this, two other people including the main accused in the case were arrested last night. A total of five people have been arrested in this case so far. Police operations are continuing to arrest others.
