Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Maheshpur, Jhenaidah. Six more people were injured in this incident. This incident happened on Tuesday morning in Valaipur area of Maheshpur-Khalishpur road.
The deceased are Kashem Mia of Pantapara area and Alamgir Hossain of Ghugri village.
Local journalist Saiful Islam said that a few passengers were going to Khalishpur from Maheshpur in a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw. On the way, when the autorickshaw reached Alampur area, it collided head-on with a sand-laden truck coming from the opposite direction.
Mahbubur Rahman, OC of Maheshpur police station, said that the truck pulled the auto-rickshaw a short distance away and overturned on the side of the road. The autorickshaw was twisted. Two people died on the spot. Six others were injured. They were rescued and taken to Maheshpur Upazila Health Complex. The autorickshaw driver was referred to Jessore 250 Bed Hospital. The truck was impounded after this incident. But the driver escaped.
