Two coaches of the Chapainawabganj-bound Dhalarchar Express train leaving Pabna’s Dhalarchar derailed. However, no one was injured in this incident. Rail service on Pabna-Ishwari route is closed.
The accident took place at 7:20 am on Monday in Ranigram area between Kashinathpur-Bandherhat railway station of Aminpur police station in Pabna. After this incident, it is said that the passengers have left for their destination by alternative means.
Hafizul Islam, Director of Dhallachar Express Train, confirmed this information. He said, ‘Dhalarchar Express left for Chapainawabganj from Pabna Dhalarchar on Monday morning. When the train reached Ranigram between Kashinathpur-Bandherhat in Pabna, suddenly 8 wheels of two coaches derailed. There were no casualties. Later the matter was informed to the higher authorities.’
About the cause of the accident, Hafizul Islam said, ‘There are not enough clips on the railway line. The train moves when it gets on the line. Due to which the carriage derailed. It is a regional railway. This is the only train running. If the train had derailed at Ishwardi Bypass station or its vicinity then the train movement with Dhaka would have stopped. Now the railway connection between Pabna-Ishwardi is closed.’
Pakshi Western Region Divisional Engineer-2 Birbal Mondal said, ‘Relief train left from Locomotive Diesel Factory to rescue the accident train around 8:30 am. It will take some time to rescue the train.’
Birbal Mondal said that a 4-member investigation committee has been formed by summoning Pakshi Divisional Railway Assistant Transport Officer Harun Or Rashid. The committee has been asked to submit its inquiry report within the next three working days.
