18 companies fined for illegally storing paddy-rice in Naogaon, Silgala 4

The mobile court fined 9 lakh 35 thousand taka to 18 companies for the crime of illegally storing paddy and rice in Naogaon. Apart from this, 4 warehouses have been sealed. All these operations were conducted in different markets of the district from last Tuesday till 7 pm today.

The price of rice suddenly increased all over the country. In Naogaon, the famous food store in the north of the country, the price of rice has increased by Tk 3 to Tk 4 per kg in the last two weeks. The poor, middle class and working people are in trouble.

In this situation, the mobile court has started anti-hoarding campaign. The mobile court has fined 9 lakh 35 thousand taka to 18 companies for the crime of illegally storing paddy and rice from last Tuesday to Saturday 7 pm in Naogaon. Also 4 warehouses have been sealed.

As a result, the prices of paddy and rice have started to decrease. In Naogaon, the price of rice in the wholesale market has decreased by Tk 50 to Tk 60 per bag of 50 kg. And the price of rice in the retail market has decreased by Tk 1 to Tk 2 per kg. Apart from this, the price of paddy has decreased by 60 to 70 taka.

Regarding the raid, Naogaon Deputy Commissioner Golam Mawla said that on Saturday afternoon, the mobile court had raided the RM Raich mill in Anandnagar area of ​​the suburbs and imposed a fine of Tk 1 lakh and sealed 3 rice warehouses for storing excess rice. In the afternoon of the same day, Mofizuddin Auto Raich Mill in Chundipur of Naogaon Sadar Upazila was fined Tk 50,000. In the evening, a fine of Tk 1 lakh was imposed on the city’s bypass road by the Auto Raich mill.

Golam Mawla also said that since last Tuesday, the district administration has entered the field against illegal hoarders. They are working all the time. The campaign will continue until the rice market is at a bearable level.

In this regard, General Secretary of Naogaon District Rice Owners Group, Farhad Hossain Chakdar, said that at present several corporate companies across the country, including Naogaon, are controlling the market by syndicating rice and rice business.

Farhad Hossain Chakder also said that the price of rice has increased due to the decrease in the import of rice in the market. However, since two days, the price of rice has decreased by 1 to 2 taka per kg.
