12 laptops were stolen after ransacking the valuable documents of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Faridpur.
A case was registered at the Kotwali police station a day after the laptop was stolen from the Mahafezkhana, which is known as a highly protected area next to the city judge’s court, the district commissioner’s residence and the district commissioner’s office.
The record keeper of the Treasury said. Abu Bakar Siddique (52) filed the case on Tuesday afternoon as the plaintiff. He complained in the case that the theft happened sometime last Sunday night. The theft took place from a room located on the south side on the second floor of the two-storied record room.

After unlocking the gate, the three of them went up to the two-storey office and found the door open with the lock of the first door broken and the lock of the second iron gate cut open. Valuable office papers were scattered on the floor. The cupboards in the office were broken and open. They also found the steel cupboards of the officer-in-charge’s room broken and open.
After searching, it was found that 5 laptops from the five tables in the office room, four laptops from the almirah of the officer in charge and office assistant Md. 12 laptops including three laptops were stolen from Mizanur Rahman’s almirah.
Faridpur Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) engaged as the officer in charge of the record room branch. Liton Ali said the police visited the scene. Initiatives have been taken to strengthen the security system and repair the crumbling of the building.
Deputy Commissioner Kamrul Ahsan Talukdar has formed a three-member investigation committee by summoning Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Ramanand Pal to investigate the incident, Liton Ali said. The other two members of the investigation committee are Revenue Deputy Collector (RDC) Deep Jan Mitra and Assistant Commissioner of the Deputy Commissioner’s office Md. Sajidul Mahmud. The committee started the investigation from Tuesday. The committee has been asked to report within three working days.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Faridpur Kotwali Police Station Shahidul Islam said that the police visited the scene of theft in the record room. Action will be taken after investigation.
