The court has ordered the death penalty of 11 people in the sensational school student Moazzem murder case in Joypurhat. At the same time each was fined 50 thousand rupees. Additional Sessions Judge-2 Judge Abbas Uddin passed the verdict today on Wednesday afternoon. Nripendranath Mondal, the official strategist of the Jaipurhat Judge’s Court, confirmed this information.
The convicts are Bedarul Islam Bedin, Sarwar Hossain Sumon, Moshiur Rahman Ershad, Manowar Hossain Manchur, Nazrul Islam, Rana, Shahi, Tutul, Sujan, Rahim, W. Their houses are in different areas of Joypurhat.
According to the details of the case, on the afternoon of June 28, 2002, Moazzem Hossain, son of Fazlur Rahman of Pramanikpara, Jaipurhat city, left the house. On that day, the accused picked up Moazzem from Chitra Cinema Hall area. Moazzem was then beaten by the accused with sharp weapons and sticks near a graveyard in VT area. Later, he was left unconscious under a mango tree on Jamalganj Road. Moazzem died after being taken to the hospital on the day of the incident.
The victim’s father filed a murder case at Sadar police station the next day. After the case, investigating officer Mahbub Alam submitted the charge sheet to the court on 29 October 2003. After a long hearing of this case, the court gave this verdict today.
